The Institute for Artists’ Bequests is the training centre for artists’ bequests in Europe.

Looking after an artist’s estate is a demanding task. It requires both doing justice to the artist’s will and striking an appropriate balance between this and the interests of heirs and relatives. Furthermore, the professionalisation of today’s art world requires estate administrators to have in-depth knowledge in various areas such as strategy development, (tax) law, art history, risk management, publications, the art market, public relations and much more. But all this does not mean that one has to shy away from this task. Good estate management can be learned.

The Institute for Artists’ Estates has developed specialised workshops for artists, family members and estate administrators that cover all relevant fields of legacy planning and estate management. Participants are trained in small groups in a special learning atmosphere, benefiting both from the lecturers’ many years of experience and from intensive exchange with their peers. We carefully tailor each programme to suit professional backgrounds and positions as well as individual motivations, whether you are the managing director of a large artists’ foundation or the private administrator of a smaller artists’ estate. As a result, you will gain a comprehensive insight into the day-to-day challenges of estate management, as well as the tools to deal with them and network extensively with others in the field.
